ABOUT LIGHTHOUSE HOMESCHOOLERS
Our History
Lighthouse Homeschoolers started in 1991 with about 10 families. Over the years the group structure and leadership has changed to accommodate its growth. Though there have been many changes since its inception, Lighthouse is a cooperative of parents that strives to meet the needs of the families within the group. Field trips, educational events, social activities, and parent/teacher support are the major focus of the group.

OTHER BENEFITS
OUR BOARD
Our board is made up of volunteer homeschooling parents who are here to help you!
Lighthouse Homeschoolers is a Christian led organization. Our Board of Directors is required to sign a Christian statement of faith, and we seek to glorify God in all we do. We are not an exclusively Christian group, meaning that our general members are not required to sign a statement of faith. It has always been our goal at Lighthouse Homeschoolers to be a light to all homeschool families in our community, and we welcome you to join us on this journey!
Feel free to reach out to any of our board members for help!
REBEKAH EDWARDS
Secretary
Rebekah serves as the Secretary / Living Arts Coordinator for Lighthouse. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Robby, since 2002. They have five blessings, Abigail, Wyatt, Henry, Jonathan and Olivia. They started their homeschooling journey in 2009. Rebekah, herself was also homeschooled K-12th grade! They enjoy country living, gardening, raising chickens, a goat and a horse. They like hiking and camping and just being outside. They strive to serve God in all that they do, and live a life that is pleasing to Him.
CANDACE PIRES
Treasurer
Candace serves as treasurer for Lighthouse. She is a homeschooling mom of three busy, fun, Jesus loving kids. She has been homeschooling for four years. All three of her kids graduated Kindergarten through Lighthouse. Her husband was the one who wanted her to homeschool, and it has been the best decision for their family. She looks forward to having many fun filled homeschool days with our Lighthouse family!
CLAUDINE HUMBER
Prayer / Care Coordinator
I'm Claudine Humber - a very grateful Follower of JESUS CHRIST! He is my everything! In 1993, our Lord rescued me from the pit of depression & despair. As a confused, anorexic, suicidal ninth grader, I cried out to God, "If You are real, then show me!" In my little pink bedroom, I was transformed by a supernatural encounter in which the God of the Universe tangibly revealed Himself to me. I responded by surrendering my life to the LORD. During my Water Baptism, I received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and then began ministering to other teenagers. Most of my work has been uplifting & educating children and youth. I taught in underprivileged public schools as an elementary teacher, & I currently facilitate the outreach department at a children's museum. I completed a degree program for Biblical Studies, & I have purposefully applied the Word of God in every area of my life. I love serving in mission outreaches, locally & abroad! The Good Shepherd has guided me to minister through prayer by facilitating an international Prayer Community & local prayer outreaches. Raising my son (Jafar age 17) is my #1 ministry! Jafar is a talented athlete, & I cheer loudly as his #1 fan!
MISSION STATEMENT: My life's purpose is to know God and help everyone in my circle of influence to know God,too. My ministry is to reach out to disadvantaged people, especially children. I reach out to draw others in... into the Kingdom of God.
AMBER PHILLIPS
Social Activities Coordinator
Amber serves as the Social Chair for Lighthouse. She married her high school sweetheart, Kevin, in 2008. Until 2023 when he retired from the U.S. Marines she moved around the country with him. They have three beautiful daughters, Ashlin, Amelia, and Reagan. They started their homeschooling journey with Reagan in 2018. Amber believes it has been a wonderful blessing for their family. She enjoys being with family, traveling, gardening, hiking, anything involving water & generally being outdoors. She loves to serve others and to show God’s love in all that she does.
